With over a 15yrs of dedicated private teaching and over 30 years of working as an experienced professional singer, Machan brings a depth of knowledge and insight to her students with tried and true tools for contemporary vocal technique.
Machan herself, has studied over the years with renowned vocal coaches such as Jim Carson in NYC, Jeanie Lovetri in NYC, Joel Ewing in LA, and recently with Dr. Brian Gill. Through her studies, she has acquired a broad base of knowledge in various vocal disciplines drawing from the work of Cornelius Reid, Edward Cesare, Johan Sundberg, Arthur Lessac, Caruso and others from various traditional and contemporary methods. She is also a 3rd level certified instructor in the Lovetri method of Somatic Voice ™.
Machan’s in depth knowledge of the physiology and mechanics of the voice, has proven to help her students to successfully understand, develop and maintain their vocal instruments in ways required for the demands of singing Rock, Pop, Jazz, R&B, Singer/Songwriter, Alternative and other contemporary styles.
In addition to her private studio teaching, Machan is an Adjunct Teacher at the prestigious Clive Davis School of Recorded Music-Tisch, at New York University. She has also consulted as a vocal coach for recording sessions and film. Most recently she vocal coached the cast for Vera Farmiga’s directorial debut film “Higher Ground”, where she also served as Associate Producer. She also coached Jeffrey Dean Morgan for a scene in the film “Peace, Love and Misunderstanding”, starring Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener, directed by Bruce Beresford.
In her casual and upbeat style, Machan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her students with kindness and compassion. But more importantly, she cultivates the idea that singing is and should be a fulfilling and joyful experience.
